Hontareva Planning Long-Term Vacation

Valeriya Hontareva, the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, is planning to take a long-term vacation after the May holidays (after May 9).

A source told this to Ukrainian News Agency.

According to the source, her vacation can last for nearly two months.

NBU First Deputy Governor Yakov Smolii will run the Ukrainian central bank during her vacation.

According to information available to Ukrainian News Agency, NBU First Deputy Governor Smolii has personally promised to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko not to resign until appointment of a new governor of the National Bank of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on April 10, 2017, NBU Governor Hontareva said she would leave the post from May 10.

She has tendered her resignation and is expecting the President and the Verkhovna Rada to Ukraine to accept the resignation.
