Trump says he spoke at length with Xi Jinping about Ukraine war during meeting

US President Donald Trump said after a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping that they had discussed the russia-Ukraine war at length and would work together to "try to resolve" it.

He told reporters.

"The Ukraine issue has come up a lot. We've talked about it at length. And we're both going to work together to see if we can do something. We agree that the parties are stuck in a conflict and fighting, and sometimes you have to let them fight. It's crazy. But he'll help us, and we'll work together on Ukraine. There's nothing more we can do," Trump said.

The American President noted that the parties did not discuss China's purchase of russian oil. At the same time, he emphasized that his country has long been buying oil from russia, and it supplies a significant part of China.

"We did not really discuss oil, we discussed working together to see if we could end this war," he explained.

Trump emphasized that the war in Ukraine does not affect China and the United States: "It actually costs us nothing, we even make money, and I don't even want to talk about making money, in this case I don't care if we make money."

The US President explained that the US supplies NATO weapons, which the Alliance member countries buy at full price and provide them "to someone, but I think probably mostly to Ukraine."

"We will work together to try to resolve the war between russia and Ukraine.... I think it was a great meeting. I think it was a very friendly meeting. It was a good meeting for two very large and powerful countries," Trump concluded.

Recall that Trump previously stated that he hopes to resolve "a lot of problems" in negotiations with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. And before that, on October 25, US President Donald Trump said that at an upcoming meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping he will discuss the issue of ending the russian-Ukrainian war.

Before the negotiations with Donald Trump, Chinese leader Xi Jinping praised him for his steps towards a ceasefire in Gaza and called for joint efforts for the global good.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China is helping the aggressor state of russia, because, in his opinion, the PRC is not interested in Ukraine's victory and russia's defeat - it is not interested in a "weak russia".

China responded to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's words about the country's assistance to the aggressor state of russia, declaring "continuous work to achieve a ceasefire."
