Ahead of talks with Donald Trump, Chinese leader Xi Jinping praised him for steps towards a ceasefire in Gaza and called for joint efforts for the global good. Sky News reports.
The Chinese leader noted Donald Trump's contribution to promoting peace and conflict resolution in the world. Xi Jinping stressed that Beijing is ready to develop a partnership with the United States.
"Mr. President, you pay great attention to world peace and actively participate in the settlement of regional conflicts. I highly appreciate your contribution to reaching an agreement on a ceasefire in Gaza," Xi Jinping said.
The meeting will be the first during Trump's second term. The parties plan to discuss lowering customs barriers and possible economic concessions.
"Today, the world is facing many complex problems. China and the United States, as major powers, can jointly bear responsibility and work for the common good of our peoples and the whole world," Xi said.
