Russia hands over bodies of 1000 fallen soldiers to Ukraine - Coordination Center

1000 bodies, which the russian side claims belong to Ukrainian servicemen, have been returned to Ukraine. It was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on Thursday, February 26.

Today, repatriation activities took place, thanks to which the bodies of 1000 fallen soldiers were returned to Ukraine. Law enforcement agencies and experts will soon conduct the necessary examinations to identify the victims.

"The repatriation measures were implemented as a result of joint and coordinated work of representatives of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector of Ukraine," the statement said.

The Coordination Center expressed special gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance in the repatriation.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on January 29, 1000 bodies were returned to Ukraine.

On November 20, Ukraine returned 1000 bodies, which the russian side claims belong to Ukrainian servicemen.

On October 23, russia also handed over the bodies of 1000 servicemen.
