Cabinet decides to audit all state-owned energy companies - Svyrydenko

Amid the scandal over corruption in the energy sector, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to audit all state-owned energy companies. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"We are preparing a comprehensive decision on all state-owned companies, including energy companies. We are conducting an audit and have instructed the supervisory boards to check the state of work, especially in terms of procurement," she said.

Svyrydenko noted that the government has already made the first decisions: a proposal to dismiss two ministers, sanctions against those named in the NABU materials, as well as the restart of Energoatom - the removal of the management and the start of an audit of the company.

She emphasized that during a full-scale war, when the enemy destroys the energy sector every day, and the country lives according to power outage schedules, any corruption is unacceptable.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) announced that they are conducting a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector.

On the morning of November 10, NABU detectives came to search the home of businessman and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio, Tymur Mindich, and they also searched the home of Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energoatom.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that on November 11, the government adopted the first decisions to restart Energoatom, in particular, it prematurely terminated the powers of the company's supervisory board.

The State Audit Service has launched a comprehensive audit of Energoatom.
