The State Audit Service has launched a comprehensive audit of the National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom due to a corruption scandal. The Ministry of Economy has announced this, Ukrainian News agency reports.

"On behalf of the government, the State Audit Service has launched a comprehensive audit of Energoatom in connection with the facts disclosed by NABU: a procurement audit should be conducted within 15 business days, a full audit of the company - within 90 business days. The materials will be transferred to law enforcement and anti-corruption authorities. The report will be submitted to the government upon completion of the auditors' work," the statement said.

The Ministry of Economy also reports that on behalf of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the Ministry, in cooperation with partners from the G7 countries, will submit proposals for the government's approval for a new composition of the Supervisory Board of NNEGC Energoatom within a week, work has begun on lists of possible candidates, and an advisor assisting the ministry has already been selected.

The Ministry also notes that, realizing the non-involvement of the Supervisory Board in any actions that have become the subject of attention of law enforcement agencies, it counts on their further professional support during the transition period, in particular, in the transfer of materials, documentation and analytical developments necessary for the rapid launch of the new Board.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) published part of the audio recordings as part of the investigation into a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector, which is codenamed Midas.

On the morning of November 10, NABU detectives came to the house of a businessman, co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio Timur Mindich, they also searched the offices of Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and Energoatom.

Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that on November 11, the government made the first decisions to restart NNEGC Energoatom, in particular, early termination of the powers of the company's supervisory board.

She emphasized that the supervisory board has all the levers of influence, from the appointment of management to the control of the company's activities, and it should be responsible for the situation in the company.
