President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is currently on a working visit to the United States, said that Ukraine's security can be guaranteed if the agreements, in particular in Washington, are implemented. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
"No changes for Russia: it is still terrorizing life in Ukraine. A wave of drones hit Kryvyi Rih - civilian infrastructure. Dozens more attack drones were in the sky. Missiles were also spotted. In fact, not a single night has gone by without Russian strikes in Ukraine these weeks. Most of the targets are infrastructure. Systemic terror against our energy sector," Zelenskyy wrote.
The President added that the aggressor country russia expects to leave part of Europe "an island of danger and mockery of human life," but this cannot be allowed.
"Russia will be forced to stop the war when it can no longer continue it. And Russia's real readiness for peace is not in words, which Putin has never been in short supply of, but in a real cessation of strikes and killings, and this is what he has problems with," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He also emphasized that every decision aimed at strengthening Ukraine brings the end of the war closer.
"Therefore, every air defense system for Ukraine is important for saving lives. Every decision that can strengthen us brings the end of the war closer. Security can be guaranteed if everything we agree on, in particular in Washington, is implemented. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!", the President wrote.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington on a working visit, which includes a series of non-public meetings with representatives of the US defense and energy sectors, as well as a speech to members of the US Congress. The main purpose of the trip is to prepare for key talks with President Donald Trump.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that he plans to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, October 17.
Trump also said that he had spoken with putin and called the conversation "productive." He said the two sides agreed to a meeting of high-level US and Russian advisers next week, which will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio along with other appointed participants.
Trump added that the presidents would later meet in person in Budapest. The American leader said that the conversation brought "great progress" and that he plans to discuss its details with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
