Poland urges its citizens to return from Belarus and refrain from visiting it

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland urges Polish citizens to refrain from visiting Belarus and to return home from its territory as soon as possible. This is stated on the government website of the Republic of Poland.

"Due to the aggravation of the situation, which is ongoing due to the war in the region and repeated arrests of Polish citizens, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Polish citizens refrain from any trips to the Republic of Belarus. In the event of a sharp deterioration in the security situation, restrictions or suspension of movement at checkpoints across the state border with the Republic of Belarus, as well as other unforeseen circumstances, evacuation may be significantly difficult or even impossible. We recommend that Polish citizens remaining on the territory of the Republic of Belarus leave its territory by accessible commercial and private means," the message says.

The Polish Foreign Ministry also noted that currently only the Terespol-Brest border crossing is open for passenger traffic with Poland. In addition, the Koroshchyn (Kukuriki)-Kozlovyce border crossing is open for freight traffic.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Polish authorities announced the closure of the border with Belarus on September 12 due to joint military exercises of the russian and Belarusian armies called "Zapad-2025".

Last Tuesday, September 16, the Polish government announced that the section of the border with Belarus would remain closed even after the end of the "Zapad-2025" exercises.

Recall that, according to Politico, Poland's closure of the border with Belarus blocked the railway, which carries 90% of goods between the European Union and China.
