Due to the security situation, the closure of the Polish-Belarusian border will continue not only during the exercises in Belarus. The Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration has reported this.
Thus, the Polish Foreign Ministry published an official statement in which it noted that the border will remain closed after the russian-Belarusian exercises due to concern for the safety of Polish citizens.
"The closure of the Polish-Belarusian border is valid until further notice and is dictated by concern for the safety of Poles. The safety of our citizens is our priority. We emphasize that this decision is related to the Russian-Belarusian exercises "Zapad-2025", which does not mean the closure of the border exclusively for the duration of these exercises," the statement said.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 14, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said that the incursion of russian drones into Polish airspace was an attempt by the kremlin to test NATO's reaction through gradual escalation, without provoking a full-scale response.
On September 13, due to the threat of the use of drones by the aggressor country russia in the border area of Ukraine, Poland raised military aviation and deployed ground-based air defense systems.
As a reminder, on January 24, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Ukrainian refugees in Poland who do not work and do not pay taxes may be deprived of assistance under the "800+" program.
