On the night of September 12, Poland completely stopped traffic across its border with Belarus. The reason was the joint military exercises of russia and Belarus "West-2025".
This was stated by Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński during a briefing at the Terespol checkpoint, Onet, BELTA and other media outlets report.
"At midnight, we closed traffic on the border with Belarus. This is due to the "West-2025" exercises, which are directed against Poland and the European Union," Kierwiński said.
He stressed that the resumption of traffic is possible only after the safety of citizens is guaranteed: "From an economic point of view, we will strive to open the border as soon as possible."
The restrictions apply in both directions - for both cars and freight trains. In particular, the Terespol-Brest, Kukuriki-Kozlovichi checkpoints, as well as three railway crossings - Kuznia-Białostowska-Grodno, Siemianowka-Swisloch and Terespol-Brest, are not working.
According to BELTA, barbed wire and barrier shields have been installed on the border. As of 01:00 am, not a single car had been allowed through. Several buses were stuck on the bridge between the countries, and drivers will have to look for other routes to return to the EU.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 10, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed the violation of the country's airspace during the night attack by the aggressor country of russia on Ukraine.
Debris from one of the drones that attacked Poland fell on a residential building in the village of Wyryki, Lublin Voivodeship.
Meanwhile, Poland is deploying 40,000 troops on the border ahead of joint exercises between the russian federation and Belarus.
