Poland raises its aviation and prepares air defense against russian drones

Due to the threat of the use of drones by the aggressor country russia in the border area of Ukraine, Poland has raised its military aviation and deployed ground-based air defense systems. This is stated in a message on the X-account of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on Saturday, September 13.

Poland noted that it had activated all necessary means to protect the country's territory from russian drones. Military aircraft are currently in the sky.

"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of readiness. These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at ensuring airspace security and protecting citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threat zone," the statement said.

The Operational Command emphasized that they are ready to immediately respond to any threat.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 12, Alexus Grynkewich, the commander of the United States European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, said that NATO fighter pilots should not think about the cost of missiles when it comes to protecting civilians.

On September 12, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the launch of Operation Eastern Sentinel to strengthen the alliance's eastern flank after the incident with russian drones.

As a reminder, on September 10, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed the violation of the country's airspace during the night attack by the aggressor country russia on Ukraine.
