The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has confirmed the violation of the country's airspace during russia's night attack on Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland Cezary Tomczyk published a corresponding post on X (Twitter).
Weapons were used to neutralize the objects, a special operation is underway.
"Our airspace has been repeatedly violated by drone-type objects. An operation is underway, the purpose of which is to identify and neutralize the objects," the command said in a statement.
The Podlaskie, Masovian and Lublin voivodeships are in the highest risk zone. Residents were urged to stay at home.
Tomczyk said that the President and Prime Minister have already been informed of the situation.
"All services are in action. Please follow the messages of the Polish army and police," he stressed.
Against the backdrop of the incident, several airports were temporarily closed, Polish and allied fighter jets were scrambled, and air defense forces were put on high alert.
The day before, the Ukrainian Air Force also reported on the possible entry of russian strike drones into Polish airspace.
As previously reported, at the end of August, the Polish prosecutor's office established that a military drone had crashed near Lublin.
