Cabinet merges Ministry of National Unity into Ministry of Social Policy

The Cabinet of Ministers has merged the Ministry of National Unity into the Ministry of Social Policy and renamed the Ministry of Social Policy to the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity. This is stated in Resolution No. 904 of July 21, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"1. Rename the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine to the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine. 2. Reorganize the Ministry of National Unity by merging it with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity," the resolution states.

It is established that the Ministry of National Unity, which is being terminated in accordance with the resolution, continues to perform its functions and powers in certain areas until the merger with the Ministry of Social Policy, to which the functions and powers of the Ministry of National Unity are being transferred, is completed.

The Ministry of Social Policy has been transferred budget allocations provided for in 2025 by the Ministry of National Unity, in particular, UAH 150 million to ensure the implementation of tasks and measures to support Ukrainians abroad and facilitate their return to Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 17, the Verkhovna Rada appointed a new Cabinet of Ministers of the newly appointed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, in particular, First Deputy Minister of Finance Denys Uliutin was appointed Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, thus the Rada decided to merge the Ministry of National Unity with the Ministry of Social Policy.

In December 2024, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Chairman of the Board of the Naftogaz of Ukraine National Joint-Stock Company Oleksii Chernyshov to the position of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Unity of Ukraine. Then the Cabinet of Ministers renamed the Ministry for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories to the Ministry of National Unity, which was supposed to help form a strategy on how to return Ukrainians to live and work in Ukraine.
