Eight prisoner exchanges were held in June, hundreds of our people returned home - Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in June this year, Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia carried out eight rounds of prisoner exchanges. Hundreds of servicemen and civilians were returned home.

The head of state announced this today, July 6.

"Eight stages of a major exchange. Hundreds of our people have returned home since the beginning of June," Zelenskyy wrote on his official Telegram channel.

The President recalled that servicemen who participated in battles in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Regions returned to their homeland.

Most of the servicemen were captured in 2022. Among them are those who were considered missing for a long time.

In addition, civilians who were held by the occupiers were returned to Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 2, the second round of talks between Ukraine and the aggressor country of russia took place in Istanbul.

The Ukrainian side expected to agree on a 30-day ceasefire, an exchange of prisoners and the return of children, as well as a meeting between Zelenskyy and russian dictator vladimir putin.

The russians agreed only to an exchange of prisoners.
