Zelenskyy appoints Rohovei Ambassador to Moldova

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Paun Rohovei as Ambassador to Moldova.

This is stated in decree No. 77 of February 7, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"To appoint Rohovei Paun Aurelovych as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova," the document states.

54-year-old Rohovei was previously the Ambassador at large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the Transnistrian settlement. In July 2024, then Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine, through Ambassador at large Paun Rohovei, maintains contact with the unrecognized Transnistria exclusively in coordination with Chisinau.

Since July 2020, he has been the temporary charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Romania. In 2012-2017, he held the position of counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March 2024, Zelenskyy dismissed Ambassador to Moldova Mark Shevchenko, who had held this position since December 2019. At that time, Zelenskyy announced that he had approved the appointment of former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov as Ambassador to Moldova. Later, it became known that Danilov would not be sent as Ambassador.
