Trump invites Xi Jinping to his inauguration – media

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his inauguration in January 2025, CBS News reported, citing several sources.

According to sources, Trump invited Xi in early November, shortly after the election, but it is not known whether the Chinese leader accepted the invitation. Inauguration officials are also planning to invite other foreign dignitaries to the ceremony.

A spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington did not comment on the matter.

Xi Jinping previously told Macron that China does not want the russia-Ukraine war to escalate or widen.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in May, China and Brazil proposed holding an alternative peace conference on Ukraine.

On July 24, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the settlement of the "conflict in Ukraine" should take place at the negotiating table, but the conditions and time have not yet been set.

On August 27, the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Chinese leader Xi Jinping should meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to confirm his country's neutrality regarding russia's war in Ukraine.
