Chinese leader Xi Jinping should meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to confirm his country's neutrality regarding russia's war in Ukraine.
The head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, said this during the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Yermak noted that Zelenskyy had already met with the leaders of all countries - major players on the world stage, except for the leader of China.
"It remains only for our President to meet with the leader of China, but I am sure that this will happen, because even the declared position of China, that it takes a neutral position, it foresees (this), because we have seen how many times the Kremlin dictator met with the leader of China. I think that even for a neutral position it is very necessary for this meeting to take place and we hope that it will take place," he said.
Yermak emphasized that Ukraine should listen to all responsible countries that respect the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in April 2023, Zelenskyy announced that he had a long and meaningful telephone conversation with the leader of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
On February 24, 2023, China presented its "peace plan" for Ukraine. Zelenskyy liked the points about territorial integrity and nuclear security in China's "peace proposals". US President Joe Biden believes that the "peace plan" proposed by China is beneficial only to russia.
