Russian dictator vladimir putin announced russia's plans to deploy new Oreshnik ballistic missiles on the territory of Belarus. The russians launched one of these missiles at Dnipro on November 21, 2024.
Putin said this on December 6 at a meeting with the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, according to the Kremlin.
According to putin, russia has decided to satisfy Belarus' request and deploy tactical nuclear weapons on its territory.
"Since we signed an agreement on security guarantees today with the use of all available forces and means, I consider the deployment of such complexes as Oreshnik on the territory of the Republic of Belarus possible," the russian dictator said.
Putin added that the Oreshnik missile complexes will be transferred to Belarus in the second half of 2025 as they enter service with the russian army.
The transferred missile complexes will be part of the russian Strategic Missile Forces (SMF), but the choice of targets will allegedly remain with the Belarusian leadership.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on November 21, 2024, the russian occupation army first used its new ballistic missile against Ukraine, hitting Dnipro with it.
In the evening of the same day, russian dictator putin said that the strike on Dnipro was carried out by a ballistic missile called the Oreshnik.
As a reminder, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told what is known about the new russian missile.
And on November 24, journalists were shown the wreckage of the Oreshnik missile found in Dnipro after the missile strike for the first time.
