US will support Zelenskyy if he wants to negotiate with russia – US Department of State

If Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy decides he wants to start negotiations with russia, the United States will support him in doing so.

The U.S. Department of State representative Matthew Miller stated this at a briefing on Thursday, November 7.

The representative of the U.S. Department of State noted that President Zelenskyy should make relevant decisions regarding the possibility of negotiations with russia.

"If President Zelenskyy decides that it is time to negotiate with Russia, accordingly, we will support that. And this is not something that the United States or any other country will pressure or push to do. And we will support him in any processes to ensure a fair and lasting peace. But he will make the final decision, not us," Miller emphasized.

According to him, as always, the russian dictator vladimir putin does not show any signs of readiness for negotiations, except for those requirements that suit him, with the seizure of more and more territory of Ukraine.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 30, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the prerequisites for negotiations with the aggressor country russia.

On October 27, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, said that in order to start negotiations, it is necessary to return to the situation that existed before February 24, 2022.
