Putin declares his readiness for negotiations, but only on basis of "Istanbul" agreements

Russian dictator vladimir putin stated that the aggressor country of russia is allegedly ready for negotiations with Ukraine, but only on the basis of the so-called "Istanbul" agreements.

The dictator said this on October 18, his words are quoted by the russian mass media.

"We are ready to hold a dialogue about a peaceful end to the conflict, but only on the basis of the document that was prepared during thorough negotiations," putin said.

The dictator stated again that this document was allegedly initialed by the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations in Istanbul in 2022.

According to him, "we can talk about some details" and "finish" it. "Throwing it in the trash," added the dictator, is absolutely incorrect.

It will be recalled that in June 2024, the American publication the New York Times published copies of documents containing discussions of the negotiations between Ukraine and russia, which were held in February, March and April 2022. The NYT showed documents dated March 15, 2022 and a draft agreement in russian dated April 15, 2022.

So, russia demanded the lifting of all sanctions and the termination of all legal claims. In addition, Moscow wanted Kyiv to repeal a number of legislative acts to fulfill its demands to give the russian language equal status with Ukrainian, as well as to fight against what it calls "Nazism".

Russia demanded a significant reduction in the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the number of military equipment. So, Moscow wanted only 85,000 people in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russia also wanted a neutral status for Ukraine, so that the country could not become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) in the future.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine could find a model for negotiations with the russian federation that would allow for a just end to the war. He cited the Black Sea Grain Initiative as an example of such a model.

We also wrote that on October 16, Zelenskyy publicly presented the Victory Plan, consisting of five points. According to the President, their implementation will make it possible to force russia to end the war.
