Last week, Germany handed over two Iris-T SLM and SLS air defense systems to Ukraine.
German Major General Christian Freuding reported this in an interview with RND.
"We are delivering at a high level, and we will maintain this high level. Just last week, we delivered two IRIS-T SLM and SLS air defense systems. And by the end of this year, we will deliver two more air defense systems, an average double-digit number of infantry fighting vehicles and battle tanks and a five- to six-figure amount of artillery ammunition. This is really significant," he emphasized.
According to Freuding, the German government continues to remain united in its support for Ukraine.
"Every step in the search for peace should be welcomed. However, it is difficult to seriously assess the chances. This is due to the fact that Russia dictates its terms, recognizing the annexed territories, which are not acceptable either to Ukraine or to its Western partners," he emphasized, answering questions about whether peace efforts in Ukraine are progressing.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the U.S. and several European countries will give Ukraine three Patriot air defense systems from Romania, Germany and the Netherlands, and several other countries will provide additional missiles to them.
On June 20, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis announced the transfer of a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
Recall that at the beginning of June, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Berlin will deliver Patriot and IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming weeks and months.
