Ukrainian Geological Survey renews special permit for Ukrnaftoburinnya for Sakhalin field

The Ukrainian Geological Survey (the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine – SSGSU) has renewed the special permit for PrJSC MC Ukrnaftoburinnya for gas extraction at the Sakhalin field (Kharkiv Region).

This is stated in the order of the Ukrainian Geological Survey, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In particular, in accordance with the decision of the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal dated August 6, 2024, the Ukrainian Geological Survey recognized its order No. 621 dated December 4, 2023, which canceled the special permit of Ukrnaftoburinnya for gas extraction at the Sakhalin field, as invalid.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the court allowed the Ukrnaftoburinnya private joint-stock company to resume production at the Sakhalin field.

On December 1, 2023, Ukrnaftoburinnya stopped the production of natural gas and gas condensate at the Sakhalin oil and gas condensate field on December 1, 2023, due to the annulment of a special permit for the use of subsoil.

At the same time, the production of the Ukrnaftoburinnya company amounted to 1.4 million cubic meters of gas per day until the forced stoppage of work on December 1, 2023 by court decision.

In May 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers transferred the corporate rights of Ukrnaftoburinnya to the management of Ukrnafta, the largest oil production company.

In April, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv transferred the corporate rights of Ukrnaftoburinnya, which were seized as part of criminal proceedings, to the National Agency of Ukraine for finding, tracing and management of assets derived from corruption and other crimes (Asset Recovery and Management Agency – ARMA)
