Agrarians sow 1.26 million hectares with spring crops

As of April 12, agricultural enterprises have sown 1.26 million hectares with spring grains and legumes for the harvest of 2024.

The Ministry of the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

In particular, farmers have sown 173,900 hectares of wheat, 683,400 hectares of barley, 147,700 hectares of peas, and 117,000 hectares of oats.

Over the past week, Ukrainian farmers have sown grain and leguminous crops on an area of ​ ​ 408,600 hectares.

Sunflower has been sown on the area of 470,100 hectares.

Sugar beets have already been sown on an area of ​ 157,600 hectares, most of all in the Vinnytsia Region - 42,000 hectares.

Agricultural producers of 15 regions began sowing corn, they have already sown 120,000 hectares.

Agrarians of the Mykolaiv, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi and Kherson regions began sowing buckwheat and millet.

Soybeans are being sown in 9 regions.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the end of February, sowing of spring crops started in Ukraine.

In 2023, Ukrainian farmers collected more than 70 million tons of grain and oilseeds and exported products worth almost USD 22 billion.

The Ukrainian Grain Association predicts a decrease in the harvest of grain and oilseeds by 8%, or 6.5 million tons, to 76.1 million tons in 2024 compared to last year.
