The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) allowed an absentee investigation against the father of the member of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity, Oleksii Honcharenko, Oleksii Kostusiev.
This was announced by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO), Ukrainian News Agency reports.
On February 22, the investigating judge of the HACC granted the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) detective's request, approved by the SACPO prosecutor, to grant permission to carry out a special pre-trial investigation (in absentia) regarding the former mayor of Odesa - one of the suspects in the case regarding the illegal acquisition of the property complex of the strategic object - CE "International Airport "Odesa" and UAH 2.5 billion of income from its activities.
This decision will make it possible to complete the pre-trial investigation of the suspect and refer the case to the HACC for consideration of the merits.
Earlier, Honcharenko stated that his father did not take part in his upbringing and divorced his mother. In addition, the MP stated that he had not communicated with his father since 2009.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on December 11, 2023, the investigating judge of the HACC has chosen Kostusiev a preventive measure in the form of detention.
After the suspect is detained and brought to the place of pre-trial investigation, the investigating judge will decide on the application of this preventive measure.
The father of the member of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksii Honcharenko (European Solidarity), the former mayor of Odesa, Oleksii Kostusiev, hid from NABU in Great Britain.
Honcharenko's father is suspected of embezzling the Odesa airport.
