Zelenskyy’s Office names topic of future negotiations with Orban

Ukraine is working on preparing the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for face-to-face talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on bilateral relations between the two countries.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva stated this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Monday, December 25.

This is not the first time Zelenskyy has invited the Hungarian prime minister to Ukraine, so Orban knows what topics will be discussed, Zhovkva said.

"He knows exactly about what. I have no right to disclose all the details, but this is not the first time the President of Ukraine has invited the Prime Minister of Hungary to Ukraine. About what? About our bilateral relations - and this is a wide range and it does not boil down to issues of national minorities. Let me remind you that a framework law was adopted, in accordance with the recommendations of the European Commission. Then, at the request of the Venice Commission, we implemented all but one of the recommendations," said the deputy head of the President’s Office.

In particular, Zelenskyy and Orban will talk about the economy and transit between states: "Nothing better in diplomacy than face-to-face negotiations has been invented," Zhovkva emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said what he talked about with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during a meeting on the sidelines of the inauguration of Argentine President Javier Milei.

Zelenskyy also said that he did not mind organizing a meeting with Orban.

On December 21, Hungarian President Viktor Orban said he had accepted an invitation to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss Ukraine's bid to join the European Union.
