Rector of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Volodymyr Buhrov believes that not all disciplines are suitable for distance education.
He stated this in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency.
"Yes, distance learning in some specialties needs to be developed, but not all specialties are suitable for this, because how can this be done in chemistry, physics, biology or medicine? It will require substantial finance," he said.
Buhrov believes that distance education is more suitable for the master's program, where people are older and motivated, andknow that this must be worked out.
"Nevertheless, the bachelor's degree should not be conducted remotely," the rector is sure.
Distance education, he said, is not just going online, it is other technologies.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Government supported the bill on fundamental changes and approximation of the Ukrainian education system to European standards.
In Ukraine, the part-time form of study is canceled and distance learning will be introduced.
Member of Parliament from the Servant of the People faction, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Innovation Serhii Babak and 13 other parliamentarians propose that the Verkhovna Rada cancel the admission of applicants for bachelor's and master's degrees in evening and part-time forms of education.
