Ammunition warehouses empty all over the world - Shmyhal

Ukraine should establish its own production of ammunition, as their shortage is felt all over the world. All warehouses are empty. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this to the Financial Times.

"We have a huge shortage of ammunition not only in Ukraine, but also in the whole world. We understand that we have to produce it here in Ukraine, because all over the world it is finished, it is exhausted. All the warehouses are empty," Shmyhal said.

According to him, the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine has increased from "a few dozen last year" to "tens of thousands" this year. The government reformatted the budget to focus on the "military-defense complex," including air defense and artillery, the publication quoted the Prime Minister as saying.

But due to global shortages of key components and raw materials, plans for the production of shells, artillery and air defenses are much more complex and ambitious than for drones. One Ukrainian official said they could not quickly transform projectile production in the way they had for drones, not least because of a global "gunpowder shortage", the FT said.
