From the United States, the state budget of Ukraine received grant funds in the amount of USD 1.25 billion through the World Bank’s Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that in 2023 Ukraine has already received USD 6 billion of grant funds of direct budget support from the United States.
Grant funds were provided as part of the fourth additional funding within the framework of the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance project (PEACE in Ukraine).
The goal of the project is to partially compensate for state budget expenditures, in particular social and humanitarian ones that are not related to the field of security and defense.
The received grant funding will be directed to reimbursement of state budget expenditures, namely, to payment of state social benefits to families with children, payment of labor for employees of the educational sector, payment of labor for providers of medical services under the program of medical guarantees, etc.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the World Bank, implements the PEACE in Ukraine project and ensures transparency in attracting and using funds provided by development partners.
In cooperation with Deloitte Consulting, which implements the USAID SOERA project, the Ministry of Finance monitors the use of direct budget support of the U.S. government, and with the PriceWaterhouseCoopers Ukraine audit company - checking according to agreed procedures in order to determine the permissible government spending carried out by Ukraine in 2022 as part of the project.
Currently, Ukraine is implementing a joint project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA) - Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance totaling USD 16.5 billion and EUR 1.4 billion (IBRD loans, IDA loans, grants from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Finance publishes detailed information about the expenditures of the state budget in 2022, which were compensated by foreign partners, including the United States, as part of the World Bank’s PEACE in Ukraine project.
On April 28, the state budget of Ukraine received grant funds in the amount of USD 1.25 billion from the United States.
