The National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom" has connected another nuclear power unit to Ukraine’s power grid as part of preparations for the 2026/2027 fall-winter period, following the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance.

Pavlo Kovtoniuk, acting chairman of the board of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom,” has announced this, according to the Ukrainian News agency.

According to him, the repair campaign has already passed its halfway point, and most of the scheduled preventive maintenance on the nuclear power plant units is being carried out several days ahead of schedule.

It is noted that since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian nuclear power plants have generated over 25 billion kWh of electricity, exceeding the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine’s forecast by more than 500 million kWh.

The return of another power unit to operation will allow for an increase in electricity supply to the power grid and strengthen its stability ahead of the peak load period.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in early June, Energoatom completed repairs on some of the power units at the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs and brought them back online.
