Every second explosives technician in the National Police has a concussion or injury, has lost a leg, arm or eye, and they continue to work as explosives technicians.

This was stated by the head of the Department of Explosives Service of the National Police, Volodymyr Khomenko, in an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency.

"I think that those who have concussions or minor injuries are up to 50% of the personnel. Those who have lost limbs or eyesight or have lost their health, they all work. Death or injury is experience and additional motivation to learn, train and be better than the enemy," Khomenko said.

According to him, 9 explosives technicians of the National Police were killed during the war.

"(The issue of losses) is the most difficult issue. Unfortunately, such cases have been, are, and I understand that they will be. So far, we have lost 9 specialists. These are some of my best explosives technicians. And how many more are wounded," Khomenko said.

He added that, despite this, the explosives team independently finds the motivation to continue working.

"They motivate themselves. They see that they are needed, that their experience is valuable. Such people should work. This is a team. If a person works and shows results, having limited capabilities, for example, with one leg or one arm, then this affects and motivates everyone else. Everyone knows that in any case you stay in the team, no one kicks you out," the head of the explosives service emphasized.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Volodymyr Khomenko, head of the Explosives Service Department of the National Police, is confident that explosives will be found in Ukraine even 50 years after the end of the war.
