The head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, said that there is a "terrible problem" with mobilization evasion in Ukraine and called on citizens to fulfill their duty.

He said this in an interview with Ukrinform and Novyny.LIVE.

Kyrylo Budanov commented on the cases of attacks on employees of territorial recruitment centers and said that such actions are related to "mental problems" in society.

"Because on the one hand, everyone says that we have to fight until victory - and on the other hand, everyone is running away from mobilization. [...] Our hero is someone who is fighting, who is actually at the front, shedding blood. Everyone kneels when they carry coffins. And we also have a hero who shoots videos, "how I - sorry - sent a territorial recruitment and social support center to hell" or "how I ran across the border" - and you, stupid, stay here," he said.

According to Budanov, the military on the front line need to be replaced by someone.

He also said that after the war is over, another problem may arise when the military returning from the front will ask questions of their neighbors who did not take part in the fighting

"But it's not enough to be a draft dodger and then live in shame and think about what you will say to your neighbor who will return from the war and ask where you were. What will you say officially - well, that's a thing that people in Ukraine are not afraid of. But what will you say to your children, to your neighbor who will come back and just say, "Well, you... Who are you after that?"" Budanov says.

The head of the President's Office called on citizens not to be afraid to do their duty and noted that not all mobilized people are sent to assault units.

He also said that the issue of mobilization is being worked on by him personally and other people who are involved in this topic.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on March 25, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said, that the Ministry of Defense is preparing key changes in the mobilization process and regarding the unauthorized abandonment of military units, as well as separate approaches for assault troops and infantrymen.

On March 2, Fedorov said that the Defense Forces are launching a large-scale analysis of each loss on the battlefield to identify systemic problems and save the lives of defenders.

Servicemen aged 18-25 who have signed a one-year contract with the Ukrainian Defense Forces and resigned after its expiration will receive a guaranteed postponement from conscription after service.
