The Ministry of Defense is preparing key changes in the mobilization process and regarding the unauthorized abandonment of their units by military personnel, as well as separate approaches for stormtroopers and infantrymen. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, Fedorov said that he held a closed meeting with stormtroopers and infantrymen from 13 units, who hold the front every day and personally perform extremely difficult tasks. They discussed the real situation at the front and noted problematic issues: the duration of stay in positions, the complexity of entry and exit, complicated logistics under constant drone attacks, a shortage of people, the quality of training of servicemen, provision of drones and necessary equipment, morale and communication on the front line.
"Together, we conducted a crash test of the solutions that the Defense Ministry team is preparing for the army. In particular, key changes in the mobilization process and the unauthorized abandonment of a military unit, as well as separate approaches for stormtroopers and infantrymen - regarding service terms and financial support. This will be a package of specific projects that should systematically change the situation," Fedorov said.
He added that, on the instructions of the President, together with the military, the Defense Ministry is working to scale up russian losses and strengthen front-line positions.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 14, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Mykhailo Fedorov to the post of Defense Minister. On the same day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he expects Fedorov to propose systemic solutions to the problems that have accumulated around the work of the territorial recruitment and social support centers.
On January 14, Fedorov reported that 2 million Ukrainians liable for military service are wanted, and another 200,000 people have left the military units without permission.
