US President Donald Trump mocked French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron during a private dinner, and also imitated his French counterpart again.
This was reported by Le Monde, referring to a video that was briefly published on the YouTube channel of the White House, which later closed access to it.
"Macron, with whom his wife treats him extremely badly... he is still recovering from a punch in the jaw," the American President said.
Trump was referring to a video that went viral in May last year, where Brigitte Macron raises both hands to the French President's face, which could have looked like a punch.
Among other things, Trump said that he had asked the French President for military support in the Persian Gulf.
"I said, 'Emmanuel, we'd like to get some help in the Gulf, even if we're breaking all the records for taking out bad guys and destroying ballistic missiles,'" he began. Then, imitating Macron, the US President continued with a French accent: "No, no, no... we can't do that, Donald. We can do it when we win the war."
Recall that Trump's criticism fell on Macron after he did not allow a flight over French territory as part of the war against Iran. The US President made it clear that despite the successful completion of the operation, Washington would take such behavior of the French side into account in future relations.
However, this is not the first time Trump has contemptuously imitated the French President. Previously, he mockingly parodied French President Emmanuel Macron, commenting on trade tariffs from the United States during a speech at the Republican Party convention in the House of Representatives.
Earlier, Trump published a private message from President Emmanuel Macron, in which he expressed disagreement with Trump's intentions regarding Greenland. Macron also offered the American leader a meeting in the G7 format.
Trump also criticized the French President after he refused to support the Peace Council for Gaza, and also proposed imposing tough tariffs on products of the country.
