After a large-scale drone attack last week, one of russia's largest oil refineries, Kirishinefteorgsintez, is preparing to partially resume production. Reuters sources say it plans to restart three of its four main units within the next month.

The plant completely shut down on March 26 due to fires caused by the strikes, and the move will allow the plant to reach about 60% of its total capacity and resume secondary lines for the production of motor fuel.

The success of this restart directly depends on the logistical situation in the Baltic Sea ports. Since finished products are usually exported through Ust-Luga and Primorsk, the speed of resuming loading at these ports will be a decisive factor. At the same time, analysts note that even with a partial restart of production, fuel exports will remain in question due to systematic attacks on the region's port infrastructure.

The shutdown of the Kirishi refinery is critical for russia's energy sector, as it provides over 16% of the country's total fuel oil production and over 7% of diesel fuel. The company processes up to 20 million tons of oil annually, which is over 6% of the country's total capacity. The forced downtime of such a giant has already created tension in the market, as the refinery is an important supplier of aviation fuel and gasoline transported by pipeline from Siberian fields for further export or domestic consumption.

Recall that the Kirishinefteorgsintez (KINEF) oil refinery in the Leningrad Oblast of the aggressor country of russia suspended operations after an attack by Ukrainian drones that occurred on the night of March 25-26.

Also, as a result of an attack by Ukrainian drones on the northwestern port of Primorsk, the aggressor country of russia suspended oil loading here for the first time.
