Ukraine hits key oil terminal in western russia – Reuters

A Ukrainian drone attack on the northwestern port of Primorsk has caused a first-ever halt to oil loading at the port, Reuters reported on Saturday, citing two sources familiar with the matter and the Ukrainian military.

According to the publication, Ukrainian drones attacked two vessels. The regional governor, Oleksandr Drozdenko, confirmed that one vessel caught fire and a pumping station caught fire as a result of the drone attack.

"Primorsk has a capacity to load about 1 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude, making it a key export hub for Russian oil and the largest port in western Russia. The port loads a flagship Russian Urals oil grade as well as about 300,000 bpd of diesel," the report said.

After the drone attack and the suspension of the oil terminal, oil prices in russia increased by almost 2%.

Recall that Primorsk is a key hub for loading the shadow fleet, with which russia circumvents international sanctions and sells oil on foreign markets. About 60 million tons of oil pass through the port annually, bringing russia about USD 15 billion.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 4, US President Donald Trump told the European leaders of the "Coalition of the Willing" that Europe should stop purchasing oil from the aggressor country of russia.
