The Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the aggressor state russia has recruited 10-15 thousand Cuban mercenaries to its army. In addition, Cuba is a zone of geopolitical interests for the russian federation.
Andrii Cherniak, the representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, has said this in the Radio Liberty project (Donbas.Realii).
"As a separate military force, we do not consider Cuban mercenaries to be a powerful organism that can influence the battlefield. In general, this figure can be about 10, 12, 15 thousand. This is a small number of people who were forced to sign a contract either by deception or by some other means," he said.
At the same time, the Defense Intelligence representative noted that the aggressor state does not consider Cuba and Cuban mercenaries as a military force, but as a zone of russia's geopolitical interests.
"Therefore, they recruit these mercenaries so that they would somehow participate in hostilities, prepare, communicate with Russian military personnel and then, whoever survives the war, already saturated with Russian ideology, would return home and tell them that "Russia is cool", "Russia is good and they should go to fight for Russia, support Russia," Cherniak explained.
The intelligence officer added that the Russian Federation is not interested in the number of foreigners that will be involved in the battlefield - Russia has enough of its own mobilization resources. He emphasized that the aggressor state is only interested in geopolitical interest
"To have representatives of certain countries in the Russian army. That is, they use this in the political arena, for domestic consumers. And in this way they are trying to show that Russia is not the only one, Russia is not an aggressor, Russia is not a terrorist, other countries of the civilized world also support Russia's ideas and plans," he summarized
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States "does not mind" if the oil tanker of the aggressor state russia goes to Cuba.
Earlier it was reported that two russian tankers are transporting about 730,000 barrels of oil and 27,000 tons of gas to Cuba.
