Expensive missiles are not a solution against massive attacks by cheap drones. Even thousands of missiles for Patriot systems will not cope with tens of thousands of Shaheds, because one such drone is 40 times cheaper than a missile. Ukraine has already learned to shoot down enemy targets for USD 10,000, while in the Middle East they can spend USD 4 million on it. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with the New York Post.
The President emphasized that Ukraine has become number one in drone defense technologies, while the United States has the strongest anti-ballistic system in the world. In his opinion, the combination of these capabilities will allow us to reliably close the sky over any state.
"Today, a drone flies 100 km, tomorrow a thousand, and the day after tomorrow – 10,000. We need to build modern defense. We are open to a real exchange of experience and security guarantees with the United States. This is an honest partnership offer," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy added that it was thanks to Western support at the beginning of the war that Ukraine was able not only to survive, but also to develop its own unique technologies, which can now be useful to the whole world.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Donald Trump considers Ukraine's assistance in protecting against Iranian drones unnecessary due to the imminent end of the war with Tehran.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has received 11 requests from countries bordering Iran, as well as from the United States and Europe, for assistance in shooting down Iranian drones.
Washington also previously recognized the mistake of ignoring the Ukrainian proposal to protect against Iranian Shaheds.
