US President Donald Trump, in a comment on Lebanon, unexpectedly mentioned Ukraine and expressed surprise that people continue to live in the country despite the war.
He said this in a comment to reporters at the White House.
Speaking about Israel's military operation in Lebanon, Trump said that he spoke with a person whose parents live in Lebanon. According to him, this person is influential and wealthy.
"I asked: 'Really? How do you live in Lebanon? Do your parents live there?'" "Oh, yes, they live there. And over the years they got used to being bombed. But they explained to me that this is actually a different part of Lebanon. This is the part where Hezbollah is,' the US President said.
He repeated that it seems that people are getting used to it, after which he unexpectedly switched to the topic of Ukraine.
"People live in Ukraine. You would think they couldn't live in Ukraine, but they live in Ukraine. I don't know if I would do it, but they live in Ukraine. They live in Lebanon... Hezbollah is a big problem," Trump returned to the topic again.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously noted that Donald Trump's statements about stopping assistance to Ukraine in the fight against Iranian drones in the Middle East do not cause concern in Kyiv, where they focus on practical cooperation.
Recall, Donald Trump considers Ukraine's assistance in protection against Iranian drones unnecessary due to the imminent end of the war with Tehran.
At the same time, Washington previously recognized that ignoring the Ukrainian proposal for protection against Iranian Shaheds was a mistake.
