The aggressor country of russia has received 8 to 11 million rounds of ammunition from North Korea since August 2023, when the first deliveries by sea began. This is stated in the investigation of the russian publication "Important Stories" and analysts of the British OSINT project Open Source Centre.

Supplies of North Korean ammunition to russia began in the summer of 2023 after the then russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the DPRK and delivered a message from russian dictator vladimir putin to leader Kim Jong Un. Already in August of that year, the first batches of North Korean artillery shells began to arrive in the russian federation.

The ships Angara, Lady R, Maria and Maya-1 are involved in the supply of ammunition. They make voyages to the North Korean port of Rajin, load containers with ammunition, and then deliver them to the russian ports of Dunai or Vostochny.

The investigation states that over two and a half years the above-mentioned ships made 112 voyages. According to preliminary estimates, they could have delivered from 8 to 11 million ammunition to the russian federation. These are artillery shells, missiles for multiple launch rocket systems and tank shells.

According to data accessed by journalists, according to documents the ships made voyages to the South Korean port of Busan and the Chinese port of Qingdao. However, this was only a cover. All voyages were made to the North Korean port of Rajin. The containers with ammunition were unloaded in the ports of Dunai (until December 2023) or Eastern. From there, they were transported by rail to warehouses in the western part of the russian federation, from where they then ended up on the front in Ukraine.

Journalists note that on average, North Korea supplied the russian federation with about 350,000 ammunition every month. This volume could last the russian army for about a month of offensive operations.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January 2024, the current head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, stated that North Korea is capable of meeting the russian federation's needs for artillery shells.

Recall that shortly before this, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the DPRK had become the largest supplier of weapons to the russian federation.
