The state postal operator Ukrposhta received USD 27.7 million in profit in 2007-2015, while in 2016-2024 – USD 74 million in losses (meaning net financial result after tax).
This is stated in the company's financial statements for the relevant years.
In total, for 2007-2024, Ukrposhta received a loss of USD 46.4 million.
Of course, the information in the reports was presented in hryvnias, and to obtain the equivalent in dollars, we used the average annual exchange rate of the NBU for the relevant years.
In hryvnias, Ukrposhta received UAH 218.2 million in profit in 2006-2015, while in 2016-2024 it had UAH 2.56 billion in losses. In general, the indicator for 2007-2024 in the national currency of Ukrposhta was UAH 2.34 billion in losses.
The company was profitable in 2007-2013, 2015 and 2019-2021, and unprofitable in 2014, 2016-2018 and 2022-2024.
The largest profit in both currencies was received in 2019 – UAH 405.4 million or USD 15.7 million (but this year Ukrposhta received UAH 500 million from the state budget as compensation for the payment of pensions), the largest loss - in 2022, the first year of the full-scale invasion – UAH 1.26 billion or USD 38.9 million.
"Well, in short - yes, we should have worked better. But colleagues [journalists - ed.] did not look at the financial reports in detail and did not attach importance to factors such as doubling the minimum wage, the coronavirus crisis, war and underinvestment," Ihor Smilianskyi said in a comment to the Ukrainian News Agency.
Ihor Smilianskyi has headed Ukrposhta since April 2016.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in 2024, compared to 2023, Ukrposhta joint stock company reduced its loss by 48.1%, or by UAH 383.157 million, to UAH 413.204 million.
The current CEO of Ukrposhta, Ihor Smilianskyi, has been working in his position since April 20, 2016, initially as an acting director, and since September 2018 - on a full-time basis.
Smilianskyi previously noted that his total income before taxation, including salary and a 15% surcharge for access to state secrets, is UAH 11,723,286 per year – an average of UAH 970,009 per month, which exceeds, for example, the salary of the US President.
