The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. It was reported by the press service of the agency.

He is accused of participating in a criminal organization and legalizing the proceeds of crime in particularly large amounts. According to the investigation, the high-ranking official was involved in a large-scale Midas scheme, through which funds received from fraud in the energy sector were laundered.

The investigation found that a complex network of companies in the Marshall Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as a foundation on the island of Anguilla, were used to conceal the illegal proceeds. The beneficiaries of these structures were the ex-minister's ex-wife and four children.

According to the NABU, the funds were transferred to accounts in Swiss banks, and some of them were used to pay for elite education for Halushchenko's children in Switzerland and for the family's personal needs

According to the investigation, a key role in the scheme was played by the minister's confidant, former advisor Ihor Myroniuk, known by the nickname "Rocket". Through him, the criminal organization received more than USD 112 million in cash, which was later legalized through cryptocurrency and "investments" in the fund. In particular, more than USD 7.4 million was transferred to accounts managed by Halushchenko's family, and significant amounts in euros and Swiss francs were issued.

"In order to conceal his involvement, two companies were set up in the Marshall Islands, integrated into the structure of a trust registered in St. Kitts and Nevis. The beneficiaries of the companies were the ex-wife and four children of the high-ranking official," the NABU said in a statement.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of February 15, law enforcement officers detained former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko while trying to leave Ukraine.

Former Minister of Justice Herman Halushchenko, after his dismissal, said that he had lost USD 60,000, but had saved more than UAH 1 million.

According to the NABU, former Minister of Justice and former Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko assisted businessman Timur Mindich in controlling financial flows in the energy sector in exchange for his patronage before President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Halushchenko last appeared in the public space on November 12, when he released a statement on his suspension for the duration of the investigation. Amid a scandal over corruption in the energy sector, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko, who served as Minister of Energy in the government of Denys Shmyhal (April 2021-July 2025).
