The first footage of Ukrainians returning home from russian captivity was published by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov on Thursday, February 5.
The first prisoner exchange with the aggressor country russia took place today. Military and civilians returned to Ukraine. Some of them had been in captivity since 2022.
"The first ambulances with seriously wounded Ukrainian prisoners of war are entering Ukrainian territory," Umerov wrote.
The NSDC Secretary also showed the first footage from today's exchange and noted that among the released prisoners were servicemen with injuries.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on February 5, 157 Ukrainians returned from russian captivity - servicemen of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and border guards. There are also civilians among the returnees.
As a reminder, Ukraine, the United States and the russian federation in Abu Dhabi have agreed to exchange 314 prisoners.
