US President Donald Trump has confirmed that russian dictator vladimir putin has been invited to Trump's "Peace Council" for Gaza.
This is reported by CNN.
"He was invited," Trump briefly replied when asked whether putin had been invited to the Peace Council, boarding Air Force One.
This was previously claimed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov. According to him, putin received the invitation "through diplomatic channels."
The publication notes that it is unknown how many invitations were sent. Information about which countries and world leaders were invited to join came from individual states, not from the White House.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Trump also invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to join and become one of the founders of the Peace Council, which is supposed to ensure lasting peace in areas affected by or threatened by conflict.
Bloomberg previously reported that Trump wants to create a Peace Council as an alternative or rival to the United Nations, which he has long criticized. The Trump administration is asking countries that want a permanent seat on his new Peace Council to contribute at least USD 1 billion.
Meanwhile, Trump's latest statements on the settlement of the russia-Ukraine war include the claim that Ukraine, not russia, is holding up a potential peace deal.
