The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has set bail for the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Yulia Tymoshenko, in the amount of UAH 33 million 280 thousand as a preventive measure.
This decision was announced by a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
Thus, the judge partially satisfied the petition of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO), which requested that Tymoshenko be chosen UAH 50 million.
The court also banned Tymoshenko from communicating with a number of members of the Verkhovna Rada, and to surrender foreign passports to leave Ukraine. The court refused an electronic bracelet.
Tymoshenko must post bail within 5 working days. If she does not post bail, a stricter preventive measure may be chosen for her.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office asked the HACC to set a bail of UAH 50 million for the leader of the Batkivshchyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Yulia Tymoshenko, as a preventive measure. The prosecutor's office is asking the court to prohibit Tymoshenko from communicating with other MPs. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has published records in the case of bribery of MPs: Tymoshenko, according to the investigation, coordinated voting and personnel decisions. Yulia Tymoshenko reacted to the searches in the party office of the political force and called it political pressure. The NABU and SAPO caught the head of one of the parliamentary factions in the Verkhovna Rada giving bribes for voting.
