Court allows Shufrych to be released on bail of over UAH 33 million - lawyer

The Kyiv Court of Appeal has allowed the release of MP Nestor Shufrych on bail of UAH 33 million 280,000. Shufrych's lawyer Viktor Karpenko told The Telegraph on Thursday, January 8.

According to Karpenko, when his client posts the specified amount, he can be released from custody.

"There is a ruling of the Kyiv Court of Appeal dated January 6. They really made a decision on a preventive measure in the form of detention, they introduced an alternative with the payment of bail of UAH 33 million 280,000. When the client posts this money, he has the right to be released on bail," the lawyer said.

Currently, Shufrych's defense has no information whether bail will be posted for him. However, the son hopes that his associates will post bail for his father.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 15, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine detained Verkhovna Rada member Nestor Shufrych.

On September 18, 2023, the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv took MP Nestor Shufrych into custody on suspicion of treason.

As a reminder, during searches of Shufrych's home, various military uniforms and medals of a veteran of the armed forces of the russian federation were found.
