President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Oleksandr Poklad as first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) instead of Serhii Andrushchenko.
This is stated in decrees No. 21 and No. 27 of January 5, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"To appoint Oleksandr Valentynovych Poklad as first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine," decree No. 27 states.
Poklad has held the position of deputy head of the SSU since August 2023, before that he was the head of the SSU counterintelligence department since November 2021, previously he was the head of the 5th department of the SSU counterintelligence department.
By decree No. 21, Zelenskyy dismissed Andrushchenko from the position of first deputy head of the SSU, which he had held since July 2021, as well as from the position of head of the Anti-Terrorism Center at the SSU.
In addition, Zelenskyy appointed Andrii Tupikov, who was previously the head of the SSU's counterintelligence department, and Denys Kylymnyk, who previously held the position of first deputy head of the SSU's Special Operations Center "A", as deputy heads of the SSU.
Zelenskyy also appointed Kylymnyk as head of the Anti-Terrorism Center at the SSU.
At the same time, Zelenskyy dismissed the deputy head of the SSU, Serhii Naumiuk, and the head of the SSU's military counterintelligence department, Oleksandr Dubrovin.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 5, Vasyl Maliuk announced the end of his work as head of the Security Service of Ukraine, while emphasizing that he was not leaving the SSU system.
Maliuk's resignation must be approved by the Verkhovna Rada.
On January 5, Zelenskyy instructed the head of the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service of Ukraine, Yevhen Khmara, to temporarily act as head of the SSU.
At the same time, by decree No. 18 of January 5, Zelenskyy established that during the period of martial law, in the event of the temporary absence of the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine may designate a temporary acting Head of the Security Service of Ukraine. It was previously assumed that in the event of the temporary absence of the Head of the SSU, his powers would be exercised by the First Deputy Head of the Service, and in the absence of the First Deputy, by a deputy designated by the Head of the SSU.
