Vasyl Maliuk announced the end of his work as head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
He reported this in his statement published on the agency's website.
At the same time, Maliuk emphasized that he is not leaving the SSU system
"I will remain in the SSU system to implement world-class asymmetric special operations, which will continue to cause maximum damage to the enemy. I am confident that a strong and modern special service is the key to the security of our state. The changes that the President of Ukraine is implementing in the defense sector are aimed at this, and I thank him," Maliuk wrote.
Separately, the ex-head of the SSU expressed gratitude to the service staff, his combat comrades and the people of Ukraine, and also honored the memory of the fallen defenders who gave their lives for the future of the country.
It was previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is considering the possibility of removing the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk from his post and appointing him to another position. If the President decides to do so, the Verkhovna Rada must approve Maliuk's resignation. According to media reports, Maliuk initially refused to resign, but then, after Zelenskyy's sharp reaction, he agreed.
