Local ceasefire near Zaporizhzhia NPP: parties agree not to shoot to restore power lines

Ukraine and russia have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to ensure the repair of damaged power lines.

This was announced by IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

According to him, the agency's team will monitor the repair work, which will last several days.

Grossi thanked both sides for agreeing to a new "window of silence", which will allow the restoration of electricity transmission between the substations of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the Zaporizhzhia TPP, which will contribute to increasing the level of nuclear safety.

What is happening now near the Zaporizhzhia NPP

Currently, the situation near the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains unstable: the plant receives electricity through restored lines, but in the past, due to shelling, it has repeatedly switched to emergency diesel generators. Now, the agreed temporary ceasefire allows for the repair of damaged lines and increasing nuclear safety.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the "sensitive issues" of the peace plan that are currently unresolved in the negotiations are the topic of Donbas, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, as well as the "issue of money."
