Pope Leo XIV would like to visit Ukraine, but the security issues of such a visit require further preparation, Apostolic Nuncio in Kyiv Visvaldas Kulbokas said, as quoted by Rzeczpospolita on Thursday, December 25.

Kulbokas did not rule out a visit of the pontiff to Ukraine. According to him, the Pope would like to visit Ukraine if the proper conditions are provided.

"The point is for the Pope to see that his visit will be important not only symbolically, but also spiritually - for Ukraine and for the world. We must act in this direction. If such a trip has not yet taken place, it means that work on it is ongoing," said the pontiff's representative in Ukraine.

According to the publication, the Vatican has already developed an organizational plan with details of the visit.

As a reminder, on December 9, during a private audience in Castel Gandolfo, the Pope received Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 24, Pope Leo XIV called on the aggressor country russia to stop hostilities and establish a truce for Christmas.
