A hundred to two hundred soldiers of the army of the aggressor country russia are blocked on the territory of Kupiansk, Kharkiv Region. The Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing the clearing operation, but are conducting it carefully to minimize losses.
According to RBC-Ukraine, the spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Trehubov, said this on the air of a telethon.
According to preliminary data from Ukrainian intelligence, as of the end of last week, 40 active russian call signs were recorded in Kupiansk. As a rule, russians have one radio for three or four people. Thus, the estimated number of occupants in the city is between 100 and 200 people.
According to Trehubov, the Ukrainian military continues to clear Kupiansk. It is being done carefully to avoid unnecessary losses.
"It would be easy to strike only at the positions where the Russians are entrenched, but this could lead to civilian casualties and significant destruction, which we do not want to allow," Trehubov said.
In addition, cautious actions help to minimize losses among Ukrainian servicemen in urban combat.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on December 12, the DeepState analytical project said that the Ukrainian military cleared the northwestern part of Kupiansk. At the same time, a part of the occupation forces was blocked in the city. This information was later confirmed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Also, on December 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published a video he recorded near the stele at the entrance to Kupiansk. For more than a month, the russians have been claiming that the city is allegedly surrounded.
It should be noted that Zelenskyy shot the video about 1.3 kilometers from the position of the russians blocked in the city.
According to the Atesh guerrilla movement, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces is in chaos because of the situation in Kupiansk.
